Case Study – Baseball, Softball and Lacrosse Federation
From three different sports with different needs – to a shared vision of the future. This is how the SBSLF made its members feel truly involved.
How do you involve organisations with different opinions, different conditions and limited resources – and still agree on what you want to achieve? The Swedish Baseball, Softball and Lacrosse Association faced just that. With Vocean, they were able for the first time to shape their vision, values and mission through co-creation – where members were both heard and able to influence.
About the Swedish Baseball, Softball and Lacrosse Association
The SBSLF is a small specialised sports federation responsible for baseball, softball and lacrosse. Three sports, three cultures – but a common desire to develop. The federation consists of a small office with 3.5 posts, and a strong non-profit organisation behind it.
Challenge
The organisation needed to develop a new vision, core values and mission statement. The documents already existed, but they were not anchored or alive. The organisations had not been involved and without ownership they were difficult to use.
With three different sports with different needs, it was particularly important that no one felt left out. A method was needed that was both inclusive and manageable for a small office.
The solution
With the help of Vocean, SBSLF was able to create a completely new type of process. Instead of inviting people to many long physical meetings, they collected ideas digitally – openly, easily and with a low threshold. Vocean became the arena where the whole movement could contribute, have their say and shape the content together – something that is otherwise difficult to achieve in a small organisation with dispersed members.
Plattformen användes både inför och under träffarna, såväl fysiska som digitala. The result
Previously produced documents now felt common. SBSLF managed to gather opinions, analyse them and create direction with anchoring. It was a genuine collaboration where each organisation had the chance to contribute and collaborate. They felt included and listened to. And the federation was given a clear basis on which to make decisions.
